Our circularity approach:
Our clothes are designed to be long-lasting and circular. They aim to be 100% mono-materialistic and bio-degradable, by this, they are easy to repair, reuse and even regenerate=compost.
Repair
As of June 2022, we are currently developing a unique customer membership access, where you can let us know if you need repair for your product, so we can connect you with local repair ateliers. By this you can use your product longer and generate a postive environmental impact.
Reuse: Take Back Program
As soon as you want to part ways with your cloudburst clothes, you can let us know through our membership platform (in develeopement as of June 2022) and we can recollect your old products, so we can make new products out of them and you will be rewarded on your next order too!
Regenerate: compost
Let's say, you have moved too far away from Switzerland and it does not makes sense, to send your old used products back. We can also give you guidance, how you can home-compost your worn-out cloudburst clothing.
See more details on this further down. ↓ (Home composting section)↓
What is the best for the Planet?
We encourage you to keep the product in the loop as long as possible, use it until you just can and than send it back to us, but we want to leave the possibility open for you, to give the product back to nature safely without causing harm, only nourishment for the soil.
How are our T-shirts really circular?
Fabric
The T-Shirt's fabric is 100% greek organic cotton, undyed and not treated chemically by colouring or other kinds of fabric treatment. Saving extra amounts of water being organic - completely reusable / biodegradable.
Sewing Thread
We could manage to get a special Cradle 2 Cradle® certified cotton sewing thread, which is biodegradable and just as strong as plastic ones. - completely reusable / biodegradable
Labels
Instead of oil-based, like polyester labels we use an in-print(screen-print) inside of the neck part of our t-shirts to show its care instructions, size and general information. - completely reusable / biodegradable
Screen-Printing Ink
The ink we use for the prints is a 100% biodegradable Cradle 2 Cradle certified® ink made in Switzerland.T-Shirt Print designs all printings use this specific - cradle 2 cradle - biodegradable ink.
Home composting
All the above mentionend parts of our T-shirts are safely compostable.
The only part of our T-shirt which is not completely compostable, are the neck ribbing collars.
This part contains around 8% Elasthan, it's a tiny part of the T-Shirt, less than 1% of the complete material, but we want to make sure, that if you are home-composting your T-Shirt, please cut this part away and dispose it a regular bin - so you can make sure that no plastic gets in to our biosphere.
Why are you not using a 100% cotton neck ribbing?
We chose an Elasthan containing neck ribbing for the collar of the t-shirts, so it can stay flexible for many years and won't deform after years of washing it. Thorugh our research and development we figured out, that people wear a product longer, if it keeps it's shape and looks tidy after a long period of using. With cotton only ribbing, it's unfortunatly not possible to have such elasticity over a long period of time.
